Humans are hard wired to heal. Learning to be in relation with others and having a healthy social engagement system can be fun! Here, we have access to nature and facilitated healing events like breathwork, the sauna, and cold plunges.
This is a safe place where all your parts are welcome. Where you are free to discover and access your resources and allies.
I take being trauma informed seriously. There is neurology behind understanding trauma, creating safety, choice, and reconciliation through the body. There is a point of reference from being there myself and knowing what it is like to process it somatically.
I work in the field of body oriented therapy because it makes sense to me, it is something I feel and experience. Since my childhood I had been treated like I had a behavior problem and it never resonated with me. The symptoms I showed were physiological, there were changes in my body and in my brain because of the trauma I endured. Ironically, the more I tried to use my body to recover, the more resistance I met through mainstream methods. It was not until I was an adult did I fully understand bottom up processing and somatic healing. When I experienced it, I could feel I was on the right path. Now I am at a point where I can bring the skills I have learned to people where we can create a safe place for their own personal discovery and healing.
Somatic Experiencing is trauma renegotiation through the body. Trauma doesn't happen within an event, but in the nervous system. Somatic Experiencing can help process the energy that becomes trapped in the body from the overwhelm of trauma.
Transforming Touch is body based support for developmental trauma. We carry the weight of our ancestors and the implicit memories from our time in the womb and as an infant. Our bodies know how to heal themselves in relation to another person. Transforming Touch supports secure attachment and healing.
Havening is a psychosensory modality with a strong foundation in neuroscience. Through the Havening touch, our bodies can create an upward spiral of positive emotions and neurochemicals that allow a client to process, reform, or reinvent events from the past that cause symptoms in the present.
Yoga and mindfulness are very popular because of their tremendous benefits, but conventional methods can be triggering to someone with PTSD or other symptoms related to trauma. By understanding the neurology of trauma, these methods can eliminate the triggering aspects and give space for safe somatic exploration.
